URBANA HORTUS means “urban garden” in Finnish. This group exhibition at Taidekeskus Ahjo features a diverse range of artworks by HTS member artists, addressing the theme of urban landscape in various media including painting, printmaking, sculpture, graffiti, video and sound art.

Kunsthaus is an annual studio residency in Helsinki funded by Jägermeister. The goal is to create art without limits.
For five weeks, I worked alongside four other artists. Each of us hosted a workshop and we had three events, included an open studio and our final exhibition showcasing new pieces created during the residency.
Kunsthaus Jägermeister is all about creating art without limits.
Kunsthaus is an art project funded by Jägermeister. The goal of the project is to give artists a place to create art, make connections, experiment and gain a visible foothold in the Finnish art scene.

Inverse is a solo exhibition by Alex Markwith featuring wall-hung sculptural assemblages alongside abstract paintings on canvas. Each piece is constructed in a series of improvisational gestures via intuitive use of color and found materials. The title Inverse refers to the asymmetrical balances within the artworks, and also the mirror-nature of the subconscious, a reflection of lived experience connecting maker and viewer.

Diverging from and building on Markwith’s signature abstract style, the paintings incorporate images such as skulls, oil barrels, computer icons, error messages, and fragments from NASA photos of outer space.
